A.I is becoming omnipresent

In the realm of engineering & technology, Artificial Intelligence (A.I) is quickly becoming omnipresent. Various early-applications of A.I are transcending geographical boundaries, permeating into every sector and reshaping traditional approaches and workflows, especially in white collar jobs.

The field of Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) & Semiconductors is no exception.

Pro-actively recognizing the potential of A.I in the semiconductor industry is important. R&D centres & EDA companies have been exploring its applications for designing & optimising microchips.

The Multinational companies based in India & the local Indian Industry ecosystem will catch up with this new technology wave pretty soon. Hence, it is also crucial for the Indian Academia to not lag behind.

In a monumental leap towards embracing this global technological revolution, the VLSI Society of India (VSI) & the Indian Institute of Semiconductor & Electronics Education (IISEED) (www.iiseed.com) have unveiled a visionary A.I initiative known as VLSI-GPT (www.vlsigpt.com) at the 37th International Conference on VLSI Design & 23rd International conference on Embedded Systems.

What is VLSI-GPT ?

VLSI-GPT (www.vlsigpt.com) is a not-for-profit initiative that is a testament to VSI & IISEED’s commitment to fostering innovation and ecosystem growth in India.

Built on top of leading A.I models in the industry, VLSI-GPT is custom-trained with at least 30,000 pages of data contributed by supporting organisations. VLSI-GPT is also fine-tuned to focus on certain aspects of learning & explanatory approach, which makes it more valuable and focussed than a generic ChatGPT, for example.

IISEED has brought together a volunteering team of industry experts and pioneers who have contributed their ideas, vision and are also overlooking the evolution of VLSI-GPT into the future.

VLSI-GPT is a community effort, hence everyone is welcome to provide their own data & content as a contribution to make the crowd-sourced model more powerful.

Utilizing A.I for Upskilling

By embracing A.I technologies, students & professionals can navigate the ever-evolving VLSI landscape with confidence, ensuring they remain agile and adept as ever.

There is also a VLSI-GPT Creative Contest from 10th Jan to 20th Jan, 2024 organised to engage students across the country.
